Our friends at Saving Our Appalachian Region (SOAR) and the Kentucky Highland’s Promise Zone are pleased to announce Eastern Kentucky’s first ever faith-based economic development convening: Jobs Wanted: Faithful Investing in Appalachia’s People.
Since the changes in the energy industry left our coal-based economy in shambles, our faith-based friends across the country have been asking, “What can we do to help?” Finding guidance in the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30), this convening seeks to engage the faith-based communities in focusing on economic development and job creation through investment, mentoring and business expansion.
Anyone for which the word ‘faith’ is significant is invited to attend. This includes religious organizations, churches, temples, non-profits, social enterprises and business leaders.

At the conclusion of this convening, participants should know:
1) How to faithfully invest in the region’s entrepreneurs
2) How to connect faith-based mentors to the region’s entrepreneurs
3) Who to contact in order to expand a business or relocate a business into the region
4) The region’s bold prayer request
